Whatever
you like to do when you're on holiday, the Almeria region will have something
for you.
There
is of course golf but, for the less energetic, there are miles of beautiful
beaches on which you can "chill-out".
Inland,
the scenery is absolutely spectacular, with mountains and desert terrain
to explore.
If
you like to see the real Spain, a visit to the nearby towns and villages
should give you all you need. The Moorish style old town of Mojacar, with
its narrow streets and courtyards, is perched high on a hill, looking
down, from a multitude of cafes and resurants, on 17 Km of unspoilt beach.
Perhaps
you will prefer the ports of Garrucha or Villaricos with their restaurants
and bars that offer great variety and value.
Or
maybe Sorbas, a stunning inland village of Moorish appearance, that is
an important centre for traditional pottery. The nearby caves are still
in their natural state, with no man-made corridors. Well worth a visit
by the adventurous.
Situated
in the Tabernas desert, Europe's only desert, the "mini-Hollywood"
town is a replica of a wild-West town. At one time, it was actually used
to shoot movies, notably Sergio Leone's "Dollars" trilogy starring
Clint Eastwood. Now a dedicated theme-park, its great for the children.
. . . and some adults.
And,
for those of you who love to play in water, the Aqua Park in Vera is not
to be missed.
One
thing's for sure, you certainly won't be bored. In fact you'll probably
need to come again, and again, to see everything you missed on your previous
visit.
